As many as 21  from Odisha,  including Chanchal Rana, who is ranked seventh in the country, cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Service Examination-2013, results of which were announced today.

Rana, who is currently undergoing training as an IPS officer in Hyderabad belongs to the Nalco Nagar in Angul.

Gaurav Agrawal of Jaipur in Rajasthan is the national topper while Munish Sharma and Akshay Tripathi have secured second and third position respectively.

There are three women in the top 10. They are, Bharti Dixit (5), Sakshi Sawhney (6) and Medha Roopam (10).

Among the other 20 successful candidates from Odisha, Prashant Mishra has secured the 64th rank, followed by Sikta Patnaik (76), Soumya Mishra (201), Prabhat Mallick (270), Arindam Mishra (307), Lingaraj Panda (312),  Ruchika Sharma (341), Smruti Ranjan Mohanty (362), Sidharth Shankar Swain (371), Abinash Mohanty (446), Manas Raj (448), Sarika Jain (527), Surendra Kumar Das (581) and Anand Mohan Mishra (595).

Himadri Bhusan Biswal's rank in the list is 667  followed by Amrit Bikash Topno (714), Sibu Prasad Mishra (734), Binaprava Tirkey (824), Pradip Dungdung (865) and Amrit Ruturaj (1092) .

The successful candidates will be placed in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) , Indian Police Service (IPS) and Central Services, Group 'A' and Group 'B'.

Out of total 1122 successful candidates, 517 candidates are from General Category, 326 OBC, 187 SC and 92 are from ST category. The number of vacancies for these services  is 1228.

There are 180 vacancies in IAS (General 90, OBC 49, SC 27, ST 14), 32 in IFS (General 17, OBC 9, SC 4, ST 2) , 150 in IPS (General 75, OBC 43, SC 24, ST 8), 710 in Central Services Group 'A' (General 369, OBC 188, SC 103, ST 50) and 156 in Group 'B' Services (General 71, OBC 37, SC 30, ST 18).

While the written examination was held in December last year, the interview and personality test was held in April-June this year.
