NIT student among three killed in separate road mishaps in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At least three persons, including a student of NIT, Rourkela, were killed in two separate incidents of road mishap in Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts of Odisha, sources said.

ES Suresh, a student of NIT, Rourkela, died while his friend Neeraj Verma sustained grievous injuries when their bike hit an electric pole in Jhirpani area of Rourkela in Sundargarh district Sunday afternoon, police said.

In another incident, two labourers were killed when a speeding tractor hit their cycles from rear in Jamada area of Mayurbhanj district Saturday night.

The deceased have been identified as Renga Purthi (50) and Ramchandra Purthi (40) of Mahiskuda village under Jamada police limits, sources said.

The mishap took place when Renga and Ramchandra were returning home after finishing their work at Rairangpur. The duo sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

Some locals rushed them to a hospital. However, the doctors declared them dead on arrival.

On being informed, police reached the hospital and sent the body for postmortem after registering a case in this regard.
