Nizamuddin event: 4 more attendees from Odisha identified

Bhubaneswar: As the Nizamuddin event has led to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country,  the Odisha Government swung into action and today identified four more persons from the state who had attended the mass prayer at Nizamuddin Markaz in New Delhi.

With this, total seven out of the total 15 people from Odisha, who had attended the congregation held from March 13 to March 15, have been identified and sent on quarantine.  However, rest eight persons are yet to be identified.

Of the fours persons identified today, one each is from Kendrapada and Jajpur district and two from Koraput district. In Kendrapada and Jajpur, the two were rescued by the district administrations earlier in the day and admitted to isolation wards of the respective district headquarters hospitals (DHHs). Their blood and swab samples have been sent for test. Besides, the families of the identified persons have been kept on home quarantine.

Besides, the Koraput district administration has traced two youths, who had attended the mass congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz. One of them hailing from Kotpad area is on quarantine in Delhi while another, a resident of Jeypore town, is now in Guntur area of Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier yesterday, Odisha Government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi had informed that three persons from Odisha, who had attended the Nizamuddin event have been identified and kept in isolation.
