Nilgiri: Hundreds of activists of Navnirman Krushak Sanghatan (NKS) today gheraoed the Sub Collector’s office here on various demands which included fixing of minimum support price for paddy at Rs 5,000 a quintal, Rs 5,000 pension to farmers and prestige to farmers.
NKS activists led by state convener Akshay Kumar marched in a rally from the Jagannath temple here to the Sub Collector’s office demanding price, pension, and prestige for farmers.
Participating at the rally NKS chief advisor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and senior journalist Rabi Das warned that if demands of the farmers are not fulfilled it will lead to a huge imbalance in the society.
In the Sub Collector’s absence, Nilgiri Tehsildar held discussions with the agitating farmers.
