Bhubaneswar: There will be no alliance with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha for the upcoming elections, said Union Minister Arjun Munda while ruling out the possibility of any tie between the BJP and the regional party.
Talking to reporters in Bhubaneswar today, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda today dismissed the speculations on a possible alliance with Naveen Patnaik-led BJD in Odisha.
"There is no such thing that there will be any alliance between BJD and BJP here. Neither it is nor it will be in the near future. The BJP is in a strong position in Odisha. And for this reason, the party will perform well in upcoming general elections," he said.
Yesterday, Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav said that the BJP will fight the general elections alone in Odisha.
"There will not be any alliance between BJP and BJD in Odisha. We will fight alone and form the government here," Yadav had told reporters.
The recent visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Odisha for an official programme, his friendly gesture to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and BJD's opposition to no-confidence motion brought by opposition members in Lok Sabha against Narendra Modi-led NDA Government had sparked speculations of possible alliance between BJD and BJP.
