No CCTV, No exam, says Odisha CHSE

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) directed the junior colleges for timely installation of CCTV cameras ahead of the annual Plus Two examinations scheduled from March 7, 2019, to avoid stern action.

In a letter to all the college authorities across Odisha, the CHSE Controller of Examinations Bijay Kumar Sahoo asked to submit CCTV installation status report by executing the order by Feb 20 in the colleges where the Plus Two examinations will be conducted this year.

If the college authorities failed to meet the deadline, the examination centres will be cancelled, the CHSE warned on Tuesday.

On the other hand, making changes in the selection of members in central and zonal squads, the CHSE has decided to include the lecturers in both the squads to be formed for smooth conduct of the Plus Two examinations this year.

The CHSE directed the principals of all the state-run, government-aided and non-aided colleges to send the list lecturers to be part of the squads by Feb 11.

This year, there will be four-tier squad system to curb the malpractice and for smooth conduct of the examination, said Sahoo.

The lecturers with having at least 10 years of experience in teaching will be included in four-tier squads — central, zonal, flying squad and observers — for conducting the examination. They will take appropriate initiative towards smooth conduction of the examination by visiting the exam centres. The lecturers to be part of the squads will have three years of experience as the squad from 2016 to 2018, he said.

According to reports, the CCTV cameras have not been installed at around 350 colleges despite repeated warning from the CHSE.

Even as only one month is left for commencement of the annual examination in Science, Arts and Commerce streams, the negligence by the college authorities to follow the CHSE directive regarding the installation of the CCTV cameras may create inconveniences to the examinees.
