No change in venue to celebrate Republic Day 2020 in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: There will be no change in venue to celebrate Republic Day in Bhubaneswar next year, official source said after a high-level meeting yesterday.

Reports said that the state-level Republic Day will be celebrated at Mahatma Gandhi Marg on January 26, 2020 in Odisha capital. Governor Ganeshi Lal will unfurl the tricolour on the auspicious occasion.

As many as 10 departments of Odisha Government will showcase their tableaus displaying the state government’s welfare schemes and programmes at the event following parade.

The participants will go through rehearsal for Republic Day parade for three days at Mahatma Gandhi Marg on January 22, 23 and 24.

The meeting was attended by Home Principal Secretary Sanjeev Chopra, Special Secretary Santosh Bala, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi, IG of Police (Personnel) Soumendra Priyadarshi and senior officials in I&PR Department.

Worth mentioning, the government had shifted the Independence Day celebration from Mahatma Gandhi Marg to the Exhibition Ground this year.
