No darshan at Puri Jagannath Temple for 4 hours today

Puri: The general darshan at the Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain closed for four hours today for a special ritual of deities.

The devotees will not be allowed for darshan of Lord Jagannath inside Srimandir from 6 pm to 10 pm due to Khasapadi Niti, which will be performed after the second Bhogamandap Bhoga offered to deities, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

The Khasapada Niti of Lord Jagannath is a secret ritual. It is conducted on sixth day of Shukla Paksha in Shravan Mala month.

Meanwhile, the SJTA had reopened the Paschimadwar (Byaghradwar or Tiger gate), which is the west-facing gate, for local residents of Puri to enter into Srimandir for darshan of deities following pressure from various quarters.

However, other devotees will continue to enter through the Singhadwar (Lion’s Gate), which is positioned in east direction of the temple, for darshan.
