Puri: Darshan will be restricted at the Jagannath Temple in Puri today evening for the Banakalagi ritual, which will be conducted after a gap of nearly one and a half months.
As per the schedule fixed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the Banakalagi Niti of deities will be conducted on October 6 (Thursday-sixth day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Ashwina as per Odia calendar).
Therefore, the general darshan of deities at Srimandir will remain closed for four hours from 5 pm to 9 pm, the SJTA stated.
The Banakalagi ritual was held last on August 23 following over a month-long impasse since Niladri Bije due to a dispute between the temple administration and Dutta Mohapatra servitors. The secret ritual was not conducted in September.
