No fresh COVID-19 cases in Odisha in two days

Bhubaneswar: Good news about COVID-19 in Odisha as no new case positive for the deadly virus has been reported in the past two days. As per the data released by the Health and Family Welfare department, the State government received a total 6,734 samples till 12 am on April 16. Out of these, the number of positive cases stood at 60. The last time when a new case has been reported was April 14.

The percentage of the COVID-19 positive cases is 0.89%. Active cases remain at 40. So far, 19 patients infected from the deadly virus recovered and were discharged from hospital and one died.

Odisha government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi said, “Gujarat, where 766 positive cases have been detected so far, had reported its first COVID-19 case three days after Odisha reported its first case infected with the virus. Therefore, Odisha cannot take the COVID-19 infection lightly as it has reported so far 60 cases.”

States where COVID-19 positive cases are at an alarming rate are Maharashtra – 2916, Delhi – 1578, Tamil Nadu – 1242 and Rajasthan -1023.

Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Telangana reported cases less than 1,000 and more than 500 cases.
