No money left, Odisha migrant seeks CM’s help for return

Bhubaneswar: In the time of COVID-19 crisis, trouble mounted for a couple of Odisha returning from Surat, Gujarat today. The bus in which the man from Bhadrak district and his pregnant wife were travelling from Surat left them midway near Nagpur national highway when she underwent labour.

“When I informed the bus staff that my wife is undergoing labour, they asked us to alight the vehicle near Nagpur national highway. The bus staff and co-passengers said they cannot wait for us. The vehicle then left for Odisha while leaving us behind,” the husband rued.

Later somehow the man helped her wife to deliver a baby girl on the roadside. With the help of some locals, the man admitted his wife to a hospital located some 15-20 kms away from Nagpur.

He got the contact number of Jajpur Collector from one of his relatives and narrated his trouble. “But the Collector told me he cannot help me in anyway and asked me to contact the administration of the area where I am stranded,” the man said.

“I am not left with any money to feed myself or my wife. I request through media to the Odisha Chief Minister to kindly intervene and rescue us,” the man said earnestly.
