No New Year celebration at Govt offices in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: To curb further spread of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the state, Odisha Government today imposed restriction on celebration of New Year in all Government offices on January 1.

As per the order issued by General Administration and Public Grievance Department today, group movements, congregations and greetings with flower bouquets are strictly restricted at all Government offices across the state tomorrow.

“The Government has issued advisories to adopt strict precautionary measures for protecting the health of public and preventing spread of the new variant of COVID-19 in the state. In view of this, group movements, congregations and greetings with flower bouquets on New Year Day  shall be scrupulously  avoided in Government offices,” read the order.

The employees are advised to use virtual means for conveying new year greetings to colleagues and seniors in office premises. Besides, all norms, including social distancing should be followed at all times, said the department.

Earlier yesterday, the state Government issued a set of fresh guidelines for the month of January. As per the guidelines issued by Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) night curfew will be imposed in all urban areas of the state (10 pm-5 am) with effect from 5 am of January 1, 2022 till 5 am of February 1, 2022.
