No parking fee at Bhubaneswar airport from April

Bhubaneswar: The air passengers are likely to have hassle-free services in the upcoming days as there will be no parking fee for pick up and drop at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) from April here.

The new parking policy by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the Bhubaneswar airport will be in force from April 1, informed Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha after a review meeting in Bhubaneswar today.

As per the new parking policy, there will be no free time limit system for parking or entry of vehicles at the BPIA. The vehicle (except commercial vehicles going to arrivals) going to pick-up/drop lanes will not be charged any parking or entry fee. The commercial vehicles including taxi will not be charged the parking fee for dropping the air passengers at the airport. However, the vehicles have to pay Rs 40 towards parking fee for pick up. Similarly, the parking fee of Rs 20 per 30 minutes will be collected from both private and commercial vehicles for parking on premises of the airport, said BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota.

Besides, the BPIA will have another terminal soon.

The terminal 3 will be constructed at the BPIA for the smooth operation of the flight services, announced Sinha.

Earlier, the union minister had informed the Rajya Sabha about the exemption of parking fee at the Bhubaneswar airport.
