No respite from heat wave in Odisha till May 30

Even as cyclone Roanu brought widespread rainfall in several parts of Odisha providing a much needed relief for people of the state reeling under scorching heat wave, the mercury re-soared yesterday as temperature remained above 40 degree Celsius in 13 places. Adding to the woes of people, the local Meteorological Centre has predicted that the intense heat wave conditions would prevail in most parts of the state till May 30.

The interior Odisha, especially the western part, will experience high temperature, the Meteorological Centre predicted adding that there is possibility of Norwester in one or two places of the state.

Meanwhile, Titlagarh and Bolangir recorded highest temperature in the state on Monday at 46 degree Celsius, followed by Hirakud at 45.6 degree Celsius. Other places which experienced temperature above 40 degree Celsius were Bhubaneswar (40.5), Angul (43.7), Jharsuguda (45.5), Keonjhar (40), Sambalpur (43.4), Sundargarh (42), Talcher (43.6), Bhawanipatna (44.7), Phulbani (42.8) and Sonepur (42.3).
