No spring, onset of summer soon in Odisha!

Bhubaneswar: With rise of temperature in the past two days following Basant Panchami, people of Odisha may not experience spring – the most favourable season – in February.

If the conditions will continue in the upcoming days, there will be no spring season and the weather across the state will remain dry paving way for early onset of summer.

Normally, the temperature rises in mid March every year. If the conditions in the past two-three days will be taken into account, the maximum temperature in several places is likely to cross 37 degree Celsius in February. It may touch 40 degree Celsius in March.

Currently, the temperature is rising during day time. The condition is likely to continue in the next two days. The temperature may further fall due to possible rains in second week of February. However, the heat wave may start early, if there will be no rain in the upcoming days, said Bhubaneswar MeT Director Sharat Chandra Sahoo.

The maximum temperature was above 30 degree Celsius in 17 cities of the state in the past 24 hours. While Malkangiri recorded the maximum temperature 33.4 degree C, Sonepur 33.2 degree C, Balangir 33 degree C, Gopalpur 32.9 degree C, Jharsuguda 32.7 degree C, Titilagarh 32.5 degree C, Bhubaneswar 31.9 degree C, Cuttack 31.5 degree C.

Although, the day weather remains hot in most of the places, the cold conditions still persist in interior parts of the state. People experience cold after evening and it continues till morning. Apart from Phulbani that had the minimum temperature 5.8 degree C, Sundergarh 8 degree C, almost all the cities recorded above 10 degree Celsius on Thursday night.
