No wireless in 38 police stations of Odisha: Report

Bhubaneswar: There is no wireless communication system in as many as 38 police stations of Odisha, said a report of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) related to Data on Police Organisations.

The report further said that four police stations in Odisha do not have vehicles while three police stations lack telephone.

Of the 16,833 police stations in India, 143 do not have wireless or mobiles while 257 are without vehicles. It is a matter of concern when such infrastructure, which are a good reliable system and are very important for effective functioning of the police organization, are missing from police stations in the 21st Century India, the report said.

The Population per Police Person (PPP) ratio in Odisha stands at 683, which is fifth highest in the country, the report added.
