Non Resident Odias hail announcement on flight services from Jharsuguda Airport

Bhubaneswar: Non Resident Odias (NROs) living in United Arab Emirates (UAE), who have spearheaded a movement to ensure regular air connectivity to newly-opened airport in Jharsuguda, have welcomed the Civil Aviation Ministry’s recent announcement on commencement of flight services from the airport under UDAN Phase 3.

The NROs also congratulated Jharsuguda Airport Director SK Chauhan for the development and said air connectivity to six cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Raipur- from Jharsuguda Airport will definitely aid economic development of the region and provide a new impetus to tourism, trade and commerce.

Chauhan said the airport is ready to welcome the new flights. Award letters to successful carriers have been issued and airlines have been told to start early operations, he added.

Worth mentioning, the NROs had met Consul General, Consulate General of India, Dubai, Vipul in October last year to press for the demand of direct connectivity of this airport with major metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. In November, they had also met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and submitted a memorandum seeking the air connectivity.
