The BJP party has called for a dawn-to-dusk bandh on Wednesday in Jharsuguda demanding for declaration of the district as draught-hit.

Vehicular movement in the district has come to a standstill due to the bandh. The party activists organised picketing at Beheramal and Badamal of the town disrupting running of vehicles on roads connecting Sambalpur.

The farmers are suffering from crop failure due to poor rainfall and disease outbreak in five blocks of the district, the party alleged.

BJP MLA Radharani Panda is on hunger strike since Monday in front of the Collector’s office demanding  assistance and support to farmers of the district.
