Noted writer Gourahari Das receives Sarala Puraskar for his literary work

Bhubaneswar: Eminent writer Dr Gourahari Das was felicitated today with prestigious Sarala Puraskar for this year. Das was selected for the 43rd Sarala Puraskar for his story compilation ‘Bagha O Anyanya Galpa’, published by Timepass Publication in 2018.

Das received a cash award of Rs 5 lakh along with a citation and shawl at a special ceremony.

“Writing is not a pastime; rather, it is a responsibility and this mindset should be reflected in one’s literary works,” the litterateur Das said on this occasion.

Renowned Hindi writer Udayan Vajpayee attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Sarala Puraskar is awarded by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT). The award was instituted by noted industrialist Dr Banshidhar Panda and his wife Ila Panda in 1980.

Renowned painter Prafulla Kumar Mohanty and Odissi music Maestro Ghanashyam Panda were shortlisted for Ila-Banshidhar Panda Kala Samman for 2022. The duo received a cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh each along with citations.

IMPaCT also awards Ekalabya Puraskar to budding sportspersons every year.
