Notice issued to 10 malls in Odisha capital for flouting fire safety norms

Bhubaneswar: The Fire Services Department has issued notices to ten shopping malls in Odisha capital for violating fire safety norms, informed Civil Defence Director BK Sharma today.

These malls have been given a time of two months for upgrading fire safety measures. The authorities of the malls have also been asked to adhere to 28 conditions as per the new norms.

In case of not complying to the notice, action will be taken against the malls, the official said.

Worth mentioning, Fire Services Department officials had recently assessed safety status at 10 major shopping malls in the city.

Among the buildings where fire safety audit was undertaken were The World Shopping Mall in Kharvel Nagar, Central Mall in Saheed Nagar,  Forum Mart, Big Bazar in Kharvel Nagar, The World Shopping Mall in Nayapalli, Vishal Mega Mart in Nayapalli, Pantaloon Shopping Complex in Saheed Nagar,Pal Heights in Jaydev Vihar and BMC Bhawani Mall in Saheed Nagar.
