The Election Commission of India today issued notification for the second phase polls in Odisha scheduled on April 17.
Talking to the media persons here, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr Mona Sharma said with the notification, the process for filing of nominations has begun for the second phase elections.
“The candidates would file their nominations from 11 AM to 3 PM from today up to March 26. The scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on March 27 while the last date for withdrawal nomination is on March 29”, she informed.
The CEO, however, made it clear that there would be no filing of nominations on Sunday, any government holiday and holidays coming under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Referring to the duration of the polling, Sharma said as per the decision of the EC, polling would continue for 11 hours from 7 AM to 6 PM this time to allow more number of voters to exercise their franchise.
In the second phase poll, polling would be held for 11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly seats.
The 11 Lok Sabha seats are, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Bhubaneswar.
The 77 Assembly seats are, Telkoi, Ghasipura, Anandpur, Patana, Keonjhar, Champua, Jashipur, Saraskana, Rairangpur, Bangiriposi, Karanjia, Udala, Badasahi, Baripada, Morada, Jaleswar, Bhogarai, Basta, Baleswar, Remuna, Nilagiri, Soro, Simulia, Bhandaripokhari, Bhadrak, Basudevpur, Dhamnagar, Chandbali, Binjharpur, Bari, Badachana, Dharmasala, Jajpur, Korei, Sukinda, Dhenkanal, Hindol, Kamakhyanagar, Parjang, Pallahara, Talcher, Angul, Badamba, Banki, Athagarh, Barabati-Cuttack, Choudwar-Cuttack, Niali, Cuttack Sadar, Salepur, Mahanga, Patkura, Kendrapara, Aul, Rajnagar, Mahakalapada, Paradip, Tirtol, Balikuda-Ersama, Jagatsinghpur, Kakatpur, Nimapara, Brahmagiri, Puri, Satyabadi, Pipili, Jayadev, Bhubaneswar-Central, Bhubaneswar-North, Ekamra-Bhubaneswar, Jatni, Begunia, Khordha, Chilika, Ranpur, Khandapada and Nayagarh.
