Notification on court-monitored SIT in minor murder case soon: Minister in Odisha Assembly

Stalemate continues in the House over the alleged abduction and murder of a 5-YO girl in Nayagarh.

Bhubaneswar:  A court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be formed to probe the alleged abduction and murder of a five-year-old girl of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, informed Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha in the Odisha Assembly today.

A notification regarding the SIT will issued by the Home Department soon, said the Minister.

“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had yesterday ordered for the SIT probe. However, leaders of the opposition had a doubt on it,”Arukh said in the House while clearing the air on formation of the SIT.

The Minister’s  clarification came after Leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Narasingha Mishra raised the issue and demanded a clarification from the Government on formation of SIT in the alleged murder case .

Earlier in the day, legislators of both BJP and Congress disrupted the House proceedings by raising the issue again today. Holding banners, BJP MLAs led by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Pradipta Naik staged a protest over murder case. The LoP alleged that the CM is shielding the Minister Arun Sahoo and  demanded his suspension from the Cabinet. The saffron party also demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder case.

Due to the stalemate,  Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the House till 3 PM today.
