Notorious criminal killed in police encounter in Odisha's Balasore

Balasore: A dreaded criminal was shot dead during an encounter with police in Soro area of Odisha's Balasore district, today.

The deceased was identified as Rundu Mallik. More than 30 cases were registered against him over several offences.

According to reports, police, acting on a tip-off regarding his presence near Jageswarpada beach, reached the place to apprehend him.

However, he opened fire at the cops. As the policemen retaliated, he sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire.

He was rescued and rushed to the Soro Hospital, where doctor declared him dead.
