Now, civil service aspirants in Odisha can write papers in Odia

Bhubaneswar: The state Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today gave its nod to Odisha Civil Services (Method of Examination in Odia Medium) Rules-2022.

As per the new rules, the question papers for Odisha Civil Services Examination, conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), will be set in both Odia and English languages.

Moreover, the candidates will write the answers in Odisha Civil Services Main written examination in Odia language. They will also face the personality test or interview in Odia.

Earlier, the candidates were writing the civil service Main exams, except the language subjects, in English. Besides, the interview was being conducted in English only.

“The candidates will have the choice to write the civil service Main exams in English. But, they have to excise this option while filling up the forms. They can also face the personality test of interview in English,” said Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.

The state government has introduced Odisha Civil Services (Method of Examination in Odia Medium) Rules-2022 to promote Odia language. Besides, the new rules will be beneficial to Odia medium students, added the Chief Secretary.
