Bhubaneswar: The Forest department has constructed ‘sky gazing’ cottages for tourists at a nature camp in Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Sambalpur district of Odisha.

The department has constructed six cottages with facilities for sky gazing through the roof.

The tourists can have the clear view of the sky and they can gaze the stars at night through the sliding glass roofs of the cottages. This is the first-of-its-kind facility in Odisha, said the Forest department.

“Where dreams meet the cosmos… Visit eco-tour site of Odisha and stay at Debrigarh nature camp for peace beneath the starry blanket above. Six new cottages are now open with clear sky view through the roof for gazing at the stars and finding solace in the universe,” said Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda in a Twitter (X) post today.

Debrigarh is the second wildlife sanctuary in India to launch ‘Astro Tourism’. The cottages are equipped with a celestial guide, sliding glass roofs and soft campus lights ensuring an uninterrupted view of the night sky, said the Hirakud Wildlife Division of the Forest department.
