Now RT-PCR test report must for tourists visiting Puri

Puri: To avoid spread of COVID-19 in Puri amidst the resurgence in cases, the district Collector today made it mandatory  that tourists visiting the pilgrim town from 12 states will have to show RT-PCR negative report on their arrival.

If the visitors fail to produce the negative report, they will have to undergo seven-day home isolation, informed district Collector Samarth Verma.

The 12 highly-infected states include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Gujarat.

“Enforcement of the order will be done at all entry points, like railway station and road check points. People will also be asked to produce the same during hotel check-ins.  We will hold a meeting with hotel association and ask them to enforce the guidelines strictly,” said the Collector.

Besides, strict enforcement against violation of mask-wearing and social distancing is being conducted outside Srimandir. The entire temple is being sanitized once a week, he added.
