Now, SOUTHCO to start power disconnection drive in Odisha

Berhampur: After CESU, SOUTHCO utility has now decided to initiate power disconnection drive in Odisha against defaulting consumers.

As per a press release, SOUTHCO has set a deadline of February 15 for the disconnection drive in eight districts of the state, where the utility has around 15.73 lakh consumers.

It has urged its consumers having arrears of more than Rs 1,000 to clear the dues by February 15. SOUTHCO has also warned of commencing power disconnection from February 16 in the case of non-payment of arrears.

The utility has a pending arrear of whopping Rs 1,357 crore, an official of SOUTHCO said. Notably, CESU had on January 16 started power disconnection drive in a phased manner in nine districts of the state.
