Now, submit police complaints online in Odisha

To enable citizens and residents of Odisha register complaints with police without having to visit the police stations physically, the Odisha police today launched a statewide Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Citizen Portal where the complainants can submit their complaints online.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the online citizen portal – https://citizenportal-op.gov.in here at a public awareness function organised by State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) of the state police.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the citizen portal will serve greatly to the people whose FIRs are not registered due to the non-availability of officers at police stations and who find it arduous to file complaints relating to problems like stolen vehicle, property and missing persons.

He urged the police officers to work efficiently and transparently in providing justice to the complaints registered at all police stations in the state in time.

Chief Secretary GC Pati informed that efforts are on to increase the quality of citizen portal service at police stations in remote areas. “Meanwhile we have started discussion with BSNL operator to increase the bandwidth and boost the quality of their technologies for smooth running of the project,” he added.

Pati also said, “The central government has approved an action plan of Rs 49 crore for Odisha CCTNS project and it seems to be inadequate for the state of art technology to run. We will ask for more funds from Centre to run this system. If the Government fails to act on our demands then it’s the state government to look after the running of the project. By December 31 this year, the hardware quality in the CCTNS online project will be strengthened at all police stations in state where it lacks”.

Talking about the CCTNS Citizen Portal, State Director General of Police Sanjeev Marik said the complainants have to register online by entering his name, mobile number, E-mail ID and date of birth. He/she will get a username and password to log in to the portal to register complaint, missing person registration, requests for FIR copy, procession license, conducting event/performance, protest/strike license, tenant verification, employee verification, and registration of loss of property documents and submit request for availing character certificate.

The DGP urged the citizens to track status of the complaints registered by them on the citizen portal. Action will be taken against police officers who don’t dispose of a case in a time-bound manner, he warned.

The project will cover 581 police stations, 37 police control rooms and 109 SDPO/DSRP/ACP offices in the state. It also includes 36 police district offices, 8 range offices including IG Railway office, police commissionerate and state police headquarters. It also covers the HRPC, Director Intelligence, IG Operations, Special Armed Police, Economic Offences Wing, Special Task Force, CID-Crime Branch, State Forensic Science Laboratory and 44 District Training Centres including Computer training centres at Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, Police Training College in Augul and six Battalions.
