Nude body of young girl found in Odisha; rape and murder suspected

Sundergarh: In another incident, the naked body of an unidentified woman was recovered from a ghat in Odisha’s Sundergharh district today. This is the second such incident in a week.

The nude body of an unidentified young girl was found in the Dalamukucha ghat under Lahunipara police limits in Rourkela of the district. Locals spotted the body and then informed the police.

Prima facie, it is suspected that the woman was gang-raped before being killed.

The police have launched investigation into the incident.

The incident has come to light two days after the naked body of a 15-year-old girl was found on the bank of a river in Sundargarh district. The girl had gone missing on the evening of July 20 and her family reported the matter to the police the next day.

Earlier in the week, the Odisha Assembly was paralysed as the opposition BJP and Congress continued demanding Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s resignation over growing incidents of missing children and rape cases of minors.
