OCA elections: Nomination filing today

Cuttack: Amidst much hue and cry following arrest of former secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Ashirbad Behera, the filing of nominations will be held today for the state cricket body elections scheduled on September 27.

The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on Sept 21 and withdrawal of candidature as well as publication of valid list of candidates on Sept 22.

The Special General Body Meeting (SGBM) and elections of office-bearers of OCA will take place at OCA Conference Hall, Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on 27th September, 2019.

On order of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators and in consultation with the OCA Electoral Officer ML Majumdar, OCA Working Committee Chairman Dhiren Pallai issued a notice on Sept 7 for holding the elections.

As per the notification, the elections will be conducted for a total of 6 posts, which include one each for President, Vice-president, Secretary, Joint-secretary, Treasurer and Councilor for Apex Council.

Worth mentioning, Ashirbad Behera’s son Sanjay Behera is in the race for Secretary post of OCA. The former secretary was picked up by CBI from his residence in Cuttack on Thursday morning, a day before nomination filing, over his alleged involvement in the Artha Tatwa chit fund scam.
