Young Odia squadron leader Kaushik Mishra, who hailed from Belpahar in Odisha, was among the five Air Force personnel who were killed when a newly-acquired C-130J transport aircraft crashed near Gwalior on Friday.

Barely an hour after it took off from the Agra airbase on a training mission, the IAF's US-built C-130J Super Hercules aircraft went down 75 miles west of Gwalior along the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border,
32 year old Kaushik was the eldest son of Ashok Mishra, AGM at TRLK Refractories, Belpahar and Bijaylaxmi Panigrahi,teacher at the Belpahar Adarsh School. He passed out of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and became a commissioned officer of the Indian Air Force in 2006 after graduating from the Air Force Academy in Dundigul.
He was married and staying with his young wife Sangya and 18-month old daughter in New Delhi, sources said.
Besides Kaushik, Wing commander P. Joshi, Wing Commander Raji Nair, Squadron Leader A. Yadav and Warrant Officer Krishna Pal Singh who were aboard the ill-fated aircraft also died in the crash.
