Odia album actor’s death: Simran’s husband arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Jharsuguda Police today arrested Ranju Suna, husband of deceased Sambalpuri album actor Simran Singh in connection with the death of the latter.

The police arrested Ranju after registering a case against him under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

Earlier yesterday, a five-member team of Jharsuguda police went to Bolangir to interrogate Ranju a few hours after he was detained by Belpada police. Ranju’s involvement in Simran’ death was suspected after the last audio call record between the couple went viral on social media. In the call record, the 20-year-old actor was heard saying to Ranju that she was mentally depressed and going away from everyone.

Following the incident, mother of the deceased brought allegations against Ranju claiming that Siman had been physically and mentally tortured by the later. However, Ranju had refuted the allegations.

On Thursday, Simran’s mutilated body was found under a bridge of Mahanadi river near Goira Matha in Sambalpur.
