Odia BSF jawan Prakash Sial martyred in landmine explosion by Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Bhubaneswar: Prakash Chandra Sial, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan from Odisha, was on Tuesday martyred in a landmine blast by Maoists in Rengabai forest of Chhattisgarh.

Sial hailed from Gopalpur village under Bahanaga block in Balasore district.

According to reports, Sial and other jawans were deployed to provide security to a polling party in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker. As he accidentally stepped on a landmine, which was suspectedly planted by Maoists, the explosive went off injuring him critically.

He was rescued and rushed to Raipur Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Sial, who had joined the BSF in 2004, is survived by his wife and two sons.

A pall of gloom descended on his village after the tragic incident.
