Keonjhar: CRPF Jawan from Odisha Sushant Kumar Khuntia, who was martyred in Maoist attack in Jharkhand on Friday, received the guard of honour at his native place in Keonjhar district today.
Amid crowd conveying strong emotions, the martyr was given the guard of honour by CRPF at his village Nandi Sahi on bank of the Baitarani River under Anandapur Block in Keonjhar district today. His mortal remains will be consigned to flame in presence of family members, relatives, villagers and security personnel.
Suhant Khuntia and another CRPF jawan Munna Yadav had sustained bullet injuries when a group of Maoists attacked a CRPF team during a search operation in Hatiburu forests in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Friday.
The injured two were airlifted to a hospital in Ranchi where Khuntia succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Khuntia was in service in CRPF since 2012. His father had died last year. His elder brother, who was in the CRPF, was martyred a few months ago. His another brother had also died of cancer.
The jawan had married on June 2 this year. His wife works as an ANM worker in Telkoi area in Keonjhar district. His ailing mother is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
