Bhubaneswar: Neelachal Patel from Odisha, who was working as a jawan in Assam Rifles, was reportedly killed in Manipur today.
Patel, a resident of Baghapali village under Bheden block in Bargarh district, was killed during patrolling in Manipur.
According to sources, a vehicle of Assam Rifles met with an accident during patrolling in strife-torn Manipur. Patel died after he sustained grievous injuries in the mishap.
Patel’s death came a day after the martyrdom of an Odia CRPF jawan in neighbouring Jharkhand.
The deceased jawan was identified as Sushant Kumar Khuntia, a resident of Ward no.4 of Anandapur municipality in Keonjhar district.
Khuntia and another jawan Munna Yadav sustained bullet injuries when the Maoists attacked a CRPF team during a search operation in Hatiburu forests in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand yesterday morning.
The two injured jawans were airlifted to a hospital in Ranchi. Khuntia succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the hospital.
