Odia migrant worker found dead in Surat; kin suspect murder

Bhanjanagar (Ganjam): As per an allegation levelled by the family members of a migrant worker from Bhanjanagar, the youth who was working with a spinning mill in Surat has been murdered.

The body of the youth identified as Rabindra Swain, aged 41, from Badakodanda Talasahi was found from a forest in Surat on Saturday night. His body was having injury marks on head, face and eyes. He might have been killed elsewhere and the body was disposed off in the forest, said the family members.

They alleged Swain returned to Surat after spending a two-month leave at the village a few days back. As his sister-in-law’s marriage was scheduled to be held on May 13, he was supposed to come to Bhubaneswar. Swain, however, informed the family members later that he could not attend the marriage.

He could not be contacted over phone despite repeated attempts by family members three days back. They thought either due to problems in the mobile phone or networks issues, the youth could not be contacted.

Two days back, some acquaintances of Swain in Surat called up his family members informing that he was missing. Following this, a missing complaint was filed by Swain’s family members.

His body was cremated today in Surat in presence of a family member.
