Odia movie Sita Bibaha to retell story in form of book

The first Odia move ‘Sita Bibaha’ has been resurrected in the form of a book: thanks to the efforts of Odisha Cine Critics Association (OCCA).

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the book in which the screenplay of the movie has been adapted and complied to retell the mythological story based on Ramayana.

Today is the 81st anniversary of the release of Sita Bibaha. There is no memento of the movie. I congratulate the members of Odisha Cine Critics Association to enliven the moments of the historic film in the form of a book, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.

Notably, Seeta Bibaha was released on April 28, 1936 at Laxmi Talkies in Puri. The movie was directed by Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami starring Makhanlal Banerjee, Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami, Krishnachandra Singh, and Prabhavati.

Patnaik felicitated late Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami’s grandson Bataraj Deb Goswami on the occasion.

OCCA president Pradosh Patnaik, secretary Dilip Hali, actor-turned-director-turned- politician Prasanta Nanda, dialogue writer Dr Rajani Ranjan, OFDC chairman Munna Khan, director Sabyasachi Mohapatra, actor and MLA Akash Das Nayak, actors Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita were present on the occasion.
