Bhubaneswar: Bangalore-based scientist turned author Subhransu Mohapatra's book "Beyond Obvious: Odisha-Karnataka Relationship over the ages " was inaugurated on Wednesday on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyostava Day at Bangalore International Center. The book traces back the lineage of kings who built the Konark temple and other monuments in Odisha, to Karnataka.
"With around 10 lakhs Odias in Bangalore alone, there is a lot of interest in this topic. An interesting takeaway for the readers is the link between Karnataka and the world famous Sun Temple at Konark," the author said during the launch. However, there's no book published in this topic and internet has very limited information. This book tries to fill that gap and contains many interesting information not commonly known to the public, he added.
Spanning over a research of over three years, the book details the relationship between Odisha and Karnataka since Mauryan period till today. It has sections on political, economic, cultural, religious, literary and educational ties over the years.
It also explores the role of Karnataka in aiding connections between Kalinga and the Roman Empire via trade. Apart from that, the book delves into the evolving ties between the two States over the years.
