Odia Sprint Queen Dutee Chand bags Gold in 100m

Odia 'sprint queen' Dutee Chand notched a gold medal today in the 100 metres race at the  ongoing 53rd Senior National Open Athletics Championships in Ranchi.

While Dutee clocked11.73 seconds to bag the gold , another Odia sprinter Shrabani Nanda came fourth in the same category.

Seventeen-year-old Dutee,  daughter of weaver parents from Gopalpur in the Jajpur district of Odisha had won the 200m bronze in the Asian Athletics Championship in Pune and qualified for the 100 m finals finishing sixth in the IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Russia, earlier in July.
