Odias in Singapore cheer for Utkala, statehood

Singapore: The Odia Society of Singapore (OSS) celebrated Utkala Dibasa 2018 in an Odia culture-centred extravaganza yesterday.
Eminent author Dr. Pratibha Ray, MP Baijayant Panda, Actress Anu Choudhury and Bollywood singer Krishna Beuraa were the guests of honour.
The Odia community in Singapore felt privileged to celebrate the formation day of Odisha in Singapore with these personalities, who came all the way from India to Singapore only for this event!
The event also saw one-on-one with Dr. Pratibha Ray (moderated by Pratyusha Hota),  Baijayant Panda (moderated by Sopnendu Mohanty) and Anu Choudhury (moderated by Sambit Mishra) in the fields of literature, economy & business, and movies, respectively.
The highlight of the evening was live performance by Krishna Beuraa, who enthralled the audience with popular songs of Bollywood and Odia hits. He started with ‘Ahe Nila Saila’ as a tribute to Lord Jagannath.
Beuraa surprised the audience by mimicking Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and other actors.
Besides, Indu Kanan and her team performed a classical piece ‘Ma Durga’. There was a music medley beautifully performed by 21 talented children.
Annual signature award of the Society ‘Singapore Odia Ratna 2018’ was presented to Soumya Ranjan Singh for his contribution to the development of the Odia community in the foreign land. He accepted the award from Baijayant Panda.
The event began with a tribute to Odia musician, singer and lyricist late Arabinda Muduli as the Odia community remembered him for his support and prayers during his Singapore visits in 2016 and 2017.
It was held at Singpost Auditorium, Payalebar.
