Odisha: 1 killed, kids among six injured in road mishap

Berhampur: A person was killed while six others, including children sustained critical injuries after a tanker hit the mini truck they were travelling in near Humma in Ganjam district on NH-16 today.

However, all the injured were later rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Reportedly, the mini truck carrying household and decor items from a bride’s house in Mardharajpur of Khallikote was heading towards Chhatrapur this morning. Midway, a gas tanker hit the mini truck near Humma Haat under Rambha police limits, following which the vehicle lost control and overturned. While the driver died on the spot, six others were severely wounded in the accident.

A rescue team with the help of locals later rushed the critically-injured to a hospital in Chhatrapur.

On receiving information, a police team reached the spot and initiated an inquiry. On other hand, vehicular movements on the road came to a standstill for a while following the mishap.
