Dhenkanal: At least 11 rooms were razed to ashes after a gas cylinder exploded in a house at Bangurisingha village under Motanga police limits in Dhenkanal district today.

Sources said a major fire erupted after a cooking gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a house in the locality and later quickly spread to the adjoining houses. Though no casualty was reported, three persons of a family including a woman and her son and daughter-in-law sustained critical burn injuries in the mishap.

The trio was first rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

Meanwhile, a firefighting team reached the spot and doused the flames. However, the amount of property gutted in the fire is yet to be ascertained.
