Odisha: 11-year-old boy dies due to ‘wrong injection’ in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Wrong injection administered by a staff of a clinic allegedly claimed the life of an 11-year-old at Biriadia village under Bansada police limits in Bhadrak district today.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Barik, son of one Gangadhar of  the  village.

Sources said  Suresh fell ill on Tuesday, following which his father took him to a nearby clinic named ‘Tarini’ in Ghanteswar Bazaar. Without proper examination of his health condition, clinic’s owner Madan Kar gave him medicines and an injection. Later, the two went back to their house. Instead of getting better, health condition of the minor boy deteriorated further. On Thursday, he was admitted to  District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he died undergoing treatment.

Doctors at the DHH said that the boy was administered wrong injection that led to his death. Later, family members of the deceased lodged a written complaint against the clinic at Ghanteswar police station. Meanwhile, the clinic’s owner has absconded after the incident.

Acting on the complaint, police have begun an investigation into the matter .
