Odisha: 3 cops killed, 28 injured after police bus collides with truck  

Jharsuguda: At least three police personnel were killed while 28 others sustained critical injuries after a bus carrying the OSAP Jawans had a head-on collision with a speeding truck near a petrol pump on NH-49 in Belpahar of Jharsuguda today.

Sources said while two cops identified as Prashant Behera and Shankar Prasad Pant died on the spot, another OSAP Jawan died while undergoing treatment in the ICU of VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.

The incident took place at around 6.30 AM today when the police personnel were on their way to Banharpalli for a scheduled programme of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The CM is scheduled to inaugurate two units of OPGC at Banharpalli today.

The injured cops were rushed to TRL Hospital and Central Hospital Mandalia in Brajrajnagar for treatment. Later, 23 among them were shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after their condition deteriorated.
