Odisha: 2 hacked to death following argument over ‘dead chicken’; accused surrenders

Bhubaneswar: Two villagers were allegedly hacked to death by a 35-year-old man over a trivial issue in Sundargarh district of Odisha on December 16.

Accused Jura Munda of Amarudi village under K Bolang police limits in Sundargarh today surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime, sources said.

An argument ensued between the accused and two of his fellow villagers—Charan Burwelli (24) and Janka Sundhi (45)—after the former ate a dead chicken on December 16.

Subsequently, the accused killed the two villagers by attacking them with an axe. He dumped the bodies in a nearby nullah to destroy the evidence.

The family members of the two deceased persons could not trace them despite launching a search operation on the same day.

“The accused today came to the police station and informed us about the incident. We seized the bodies from the nullah and launched a probe in this regard. The accused has been detained for questioning,” said a police officer.
