Odisha: 20 migrant labourers rescued while being trafficked to AP

Rayagada: As many as 20 migrant labourers were rescued by Human Rights activists at Rayagada railway station while they were being trafficked to Andhra Pradesh last night.

The rescued labourers, including 12 women, were later handed over to Labour department.

Sources said the labourers, all residents of Panchada village in Koraput district, were waiting at the railway station to board a train to Andhra Pradesh. They were being trafficked to the neighbouring state to work in a textile mill. However, a group of rights activists rescued them and handed them over to the Labour Department.

The officials also detained a middleman in this connection and and are interrogating him.
