Odisha: 276 Matric Champions felicitated

Bhubaneswar: As many as 276 students were felicitated for cracking the annual matriculation examination here on Saturday.

The matric champions from Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh districts were extolled during a function held by leading Odia daily ‘Sambad’ at Hotel Swosti Premium in Bhubaneswar.

“Matriculation is the first and most important examination. The students clearing the examination successfully need to dream bigger instead of confining themselves in a particular field,” said State Sports Secretary Vishal Dev, who was the chief guest of the programme.

Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra, who had also graced the occasion, said, “Since achieving the success in matriculation is the beginning of one’s career, that attempt and dedication need to be maintained in future for other examinations.”

Addressing the students at the programme he said that thet need to work hard in the next 6-8 years to build a strong career.

“The civil service is not the only substitute in this era. There are many sectors in which the students can prove their mettle and for this they need to work according to proper plan and design,” he added.

‘Sambad’ Editor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, who presided over the function, suggested the successful students not to hold ego within them and asked them to excel in the fields they chose in future.

“Many people in the State have been ruined due to their ego. The only formula not to shelter the ego within is the gratitude. All the ego will be vanished if someone will be obliged and polite. You should be obliged to God,” Patnaik said.

He advised the parents not to put pressure on their children for the sake of their high aspiration.

“The parents should allow their children to take their own decision in which field they want to pursue their career. A child’s tendency should match with his/her profession,” Patnak further said.

Speaking on the occasion, Sambad Group’s MD Monica Nayyar Patnaik said, “Whatever the students want to do, need to focus on those. Nobody can achieve success forcibly. The talent along with courage and paying respect to elders brings success.”

Sharing the success stories with ‘Sambad’, one of the successful students said that his parents were the inspiration behind his success.

“Whenever I was getting distracted from my studies, my mother was always instructing me to study well or else choose the occupation to sell dried fish like father,” Sambad quoted one of the matric champions Kanhucharan Behera, a student of Itamati Saraswati Sishu Mandir from Nayagarh district, as saying.

“My father was confident that I will be the topper in which school I get enrolled. Now I have topped the exam securing 549 marks. But my father is no more to see his daughter’s success,” said Raghunath Nodal High School’s student Trupti Sethi, who broke into tears while sharing her story.
