Odisha: 29 persons of a village test COVID positive

Nuapada: At a time when the Odisha Government has initiated efforts to prevent the possibility of second wave of COVID-19, as many as 29 persons of Brahamanpada village under Sinapali block of Nuapada district have tested positive for the virus.

Sinapali BDO informed that a total of 56 samples were collected from the village for testing while 29 of those tested positive for COVID-19. It is being suspected that the highly contagious virus has spread to this part of the state from neighbouring Chhattisgarh where a spurt in cases has been reported, the official said.

The two entry points of the village have been sealed with deployment of policemen. Samples of all villagers will be collected tomorrow for testing. Weekly market in the locality and two weddings in the village have been cancelled by the administration, the BDO said.

Notably, the district has today reported 27 fresh COVID-19 cases.
