Odisha: 3 cybercriminals arrested for duping jobseekers in State Capital

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police today arrested at least three cybercriminals for allegedly duping several job aspirants of lakhs of rupees. On the pretext of providing jobs in reputed companies like Nalco, Jindal and Vedanta etc, the fraudsters were committing the crimes.

The arrested are Sandeep Bai, Raj Sinha and Rajesh Samantaray.

According to a police source, the criminals were initially targeting educated and unemployed youths. A team of police earlier launched a manhunt to nab the cybercriminals after getting complaints from a number of victims. The tricksters were asking for around Rs 40,000 for a job.

The fraudsters were also taking interviews of the job aspirants to gain their confidence.

A number of jobseekers from Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were trapped, the official said.

Besides, the trio was also involved in financial crimes, which they were committing through fake bank accounts and pre-activated SIMs by tele-calling the targeted individuals.

The trio was forwarded to a local court earlier in the day, the senior official said.
