Bhubaneswar: The bodies of two persons, who died in the horrific train accident that took place on June 2 evening near Bahanaga Bazaar railway station of Odisha’s Balasore district, were cremated today at Satya Nagar crematorium here after their families refused to take the mortal remains.

The two deceased were identified as Dinesh Yadav (31) from Jharkhand and Suresh Ray (23) from Bihar.

An official source said that the respective families did not agree to take the decomposed remains such a long way. Hence, the local administration arranged for cremation of the bodies and the funeral rites were performed in presence of the families, the source added.

“There are 81 bodies kept in a morgue of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for identification and DNA test reports of at least 29 deceased victims have been received so far. Out of the 29 bodies, 19 were handed over to the deceased’s families only except these two persons,” BMC Mayor Sulochana Das said.

The civic body made all arrangements for cremation of the bodies, the Mayor added.
